The New Spirituality

Now that we are officially in the Age Of Aquarius perhaps we can gather a overview concept of the paradigm from which we have emerged. Firstly we were fixated on matter and Body-Focused Obsessions. A fixation happens when you cannot think of anything else but the thing you are fixated on. We might be able to recognize what matter cannot do and free ourselves to do what we can.

Much of our intolerance and vulnerability is the result of our misunderstanding that we affected by more than often we realize. Often we feel helpless to control things.

The Internet is a blessing and a curse providing seemingly endless information at your fingertips. It allows for an immense amount of rapid information exchange and seems to have the answer to virtually every question you could think of. As the internet continues to mature there will only be more and more information shared on it and therefore more to digest.

Despite the popularity and benefits, the internet is not all positive: it has a dark side. Unfortunately, this increasing reliance on tech comes with it an increase in those looking to misuse it by introducing a new exploitative wave in content. Fake Newsis a term describing falsified or misleading news stories which are presented as real. Inexpensive apps can now use anyone’s voice and physical appearance create a fake video that looks real.

But also, the possibilities of increasing our advanced understanding of the nature of consciousness and scientific reality is very helpful and promising. Ordinary people can now unlock access to extraordinary information that can revolutionize our health and well being.

We are beginning to realize that in the past our social, religious, political, and health systems were arcane and harmful in many ways. Essentially a powerful few exploited the many to maintain their luxurious lifestyles and consolidate their power. For example, Rockefeller created the modern American school system primarily to provide trained and obedient workers to fuel America's expanding industrial economy. And religion is and has been probably the most important force in continuing the oppression of people worldwide.

The New Spirituality is neither an organized religion nor a systematized philosophy but a group of ideas and a network of communication. It draws from a wide range of traditions and the cultural roots, key ideas and organizational structures of this new faith, and its significance in the changing moral and religious landscape of contemporary western society is benefited greatly by the Internet.

Although simulation theory does not involve worship of a figure or god, the idea of the programmers being in control of what others do sounds remarkably similar to the role of gods or God among many groups we colloquially call religions. The concept of God-as-emergent-from-the-universe explores the idea that God exists as the world itself.

Physicists are starting to think Space and Time Are 'IllusionsOne of the more  discoveries in the past half a century is that the universe is not locally real and all is energy in vibration. Some spiritual teachers say that all is one and there is no death since we are made of energy which is not created or destroyed.

The New Age Begins

The Mayan Great Age and the Egyptian Age, and the Age of Aquarius agree that the current  historic alignment of the earth, the sun, and the galactic center of the universe is a great window of OPPORTUNITY for spiritual growth.

What IS NOT found anywhere in their text is doomsday for the world. But the Age of Aquarius is causing great turmoil in order to make room for the new values of love, brotherhood, unity and integrity. Everything with Piscean values is being exposed and taken down. The Piscean values of money, power and control are being replaced. This includes governments, corporations, individuals, and even personal relationships.

The influences of Aquarius began as early as the French Revolution when their slogan was "freedom, equality, fraternity." These values represent the Aquarian Age. Another key trait of this new age is "humanitarianism without prejudice or preference." Maybe we will finally learn to work together for the betterment of the "whole" world rather than selfish greed and exploitation.

Deconstructive scientism would have is believe that humans amount to little more than body parts. But the rapid changes in technology we've seen in the last number of years is to prepare us for the next new age, the Age of Aquarius which begins now in 2020, and will last for more than 2000 years. And it starts with the idea that “Consciousness creates reality.” This statement has changed the scientific and medical landscape, and alternative media outlets around the world have and continue to explore its meaning and implications for out future. Countless scientists study this idea and how it might be correlated with the nature of our reality.

"Intelligence" precedes the existence of matter according to a variety of experiments in Quantum Physics. The experiments suggest that nothing exists in the "physical realm" until some form of intelligence is present to 'observe it'.

“Consciousness creates reality”is a statement that has changed the scientific and medical landscape, and alternative media outlets around the world have and continue to explore its meaning and implications for out future. Countless scientists study this idea and how it might be correlated with the nature of our reality.

“I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness.” - Max Planck, the theoretical physicist who originated quantum theory, which won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918

“It was not possible to formulate the laws of quantum mechanics in a fully consistent way without reference to consciousness.”    - Eugene Wigner, theoretical physicist and mathematician

"A fundamental conclusion of the new physics also acknowledges that the observer creates the reality. As observers, we are personally involved with the creation of our own reality. Physicists are being forced to admit that the universe is a “mental” construction." - RC Henry, a professor of physics and astronomy at Johns Hopkins University

The Piscean Age was dominated by  patriarchal systems like Newtonian Physics. The new age is all about making room for a more egalitarian world. The Age of Aquarius is the Age of Freedom and Technology. Aquarius is heavily associated with electricity and information such as the way we're seeing social media facilitating revolution is very much of this era.

Fundamentally, physicists develop models for understanding how the world works and describes and predicts how design patterns emerge and it not only describes the patterns of change in the world within and around us, but it allows us to predict how the configuration of those patterns will evolve over time.

Quantum Physics tells us that everything is energy, and matter is not as solid as we perceive it to be. Quantum physics will provide insight into the communication channels that link the mind-body duality. An awareness of how vibrational signatures and resonance impact molecular communication constitutes a master key that unlocks a mechanism by which our thoughts, attitudes and beliefs create the conditions of our body and the external world.

Everything has an energetic signature and is composed of Spectrum of Frequency arranged in form holding blueprints called Morphogenetic Fields. So Morphic Resonance is a process whereby self-organizing systems inherit a memory from previous similar systems. In its most general formulation, morphic resonance means that the so-called laws of nature are more like habits.

The "formative causation" hypothesis proposes that all systems are regulated not only by known energy and material factors but also by invisible organizing matrices (morphogenetic fields). According to the hypothesis all self-organizing systems, including crystals, plants and animals contain an inherent memory, given by a process called morphic resonance from previous similar systems.

And in that way all energy is apparently conscious or intelligent to the extent that it is logically or aesthetically ordered or integrated, consistent and coherent. If consciousness precedes matter in both the design process and in the actual manifestation, then intelligences must exist outside form.

Consciousness is energy, and energy is conscious; they are both interchangeable. All living beings (including planets, human beings, animals, insects, plants, each blade of grass and even a grain of sand) have consciousness. Morphic fields also coordinate the vibratory activities of the nervous system, and are closely connected to mental activity. Minds are extended beyond brains through these fields, and the effects of attention and intention at a distance can be detected experimentally.

The science behind transformation reveals that it is a natural biological process for all human beings to have the ability to evolve and to Expand Consciousness which increases levels of awareness. We have held the illusion that our health and fate were preprogrammed in our genes, a concept referred to as genetic determinacy.

Though mass consciousness is currently imbued with the belief that the character of one's life is genetically predetermined, a radical new understanding is unfolding at the leading edge of science. Cellular biologists now recognize that the environment - the external universe and our internal physiology - and more importantly, our perception of the environment, directly control the activity of our genes.
This dawning new era invites the marriage of our highly developed rational mind with our long-neglected soul and the birth of the ‘child’ of a new, awakened consciousness that would be the fruit of this union and the true saviour of our species. As the light of this new unified consciousness begins to shine in the darkness of our time, we could heal both our divided psyche and our raped and vandalized planet. It is a dangerous, challenging and creative time to be alive. -Anne Baring.

Whatever your vibes are is what you will attract, it's that simple.

New Age Ideas

Obtaining the wisdom of those who came before us was not always easy to accomplish. Historically most people were unable to read and write. In very ancient times tablets of stone were interpreted by a powerful few who often had their own agenda. The result was usually rules rather than principles, and most people had little knowledge or power.

Now we have various electronic media that affords most of us the opportunity to see or hear the wisdom of the most wise at our own convenience. But curiously we often ignore this opportunity. Choosing entertainment over wisdom may cost us dearly. Failure to comprehend our new paradigm is a mistake we can scarcely afford, and all future generations may hold us accountable.

Anyway, the possibility that you can hold the wisdom of the world in the palm of your hand is pretty cool!

The Age of Spiritual Machines is a non-fiction book by inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil about artificial intelligence and the future course of humanity. Kurzweil predicts machines with human-level intelligence will be available from affordable computing devices within a couple of decades, revolutionizing most aspects of life.  He believes evolution provides evidence that humans will one day create machines more intelligent than they are.

Mr.Kurzweil's idea remains to be seen, but it is apparent that the "mechanical revolution" is increasingly doing away with work, effort. Most of our food, shelter, transportation has been mechanized, but also science, medicine and entertainment.

Indeed materialist philosophers have argued that man is some sort of machine. But materialism remains unsatisfying, because it seems inadequate to explain our deeper selves -our aspirations for transcendence, for freedom, and the beatific vision. Materialism and spirituality have long been pitted against each other, but computerized intelligence is making some interesting inroads into our personal identity through cognitive reprogramming.

There is ever increasing scientific evidence that you can actually change the structure of your brain by just thinking about it. It was believed until recently that each of us was born with a finite number of neural cells and when a cell died no new cell could grow. This old model of the brain's inability to regenerate new nerve cells is no longer relevant. It has been proven that the brain can generate fresh cells.

This new understanding of neural cell generation is an incredible discovery. New studies have shown that new neural cells are generated throughout life as well as new neural pathways. Even the elderly are capable of creating measurable changes in brain organization.

Neuro-plasticity, also known as brain plasticity, is a term that describes lasting change to the brain. The term Neuro-plasticity is derived from the root words Neuron and Plastic. A neuron refers to the nerve cells in our brain. Each individual neural cell is made up of an axon, dendrites, and is linked to one another by a small space called the synapses. The word plastic means to mold, sculpt, or modify. Neuro-plasticity refers to the potential that the brain has to reorganize by creating new neural pathways to adapt, as it needs. Think of the neurological changes being made in the brain as the brain's way of tuning itself to meet your needs.

The more you focus and practice something the better you become at the new skill that you are learning or an obstacle you are trying to overcome. By doing this new neural connections are created in the brain as synapses that don't usually fire together do, which help us to sharpen our new skill.

The implications of neuro-plasticity are profound, but there has been another recent and related discovery which may be even more profound. It is called Epigenitics. The new field of epigenetics shows that people enter the world with a particular genetic code, however genes are not controlled by DNA, but by environmental influences. So epigenetic control of gene expression (the switching on and switching off of genes) is an intelligent response to the environment.

Epigenetic changes can be transmitted from one generation to another, which is faster than the evolutionary changes resulting from natural selection. Epigenetics turns on its head the conventional wisdom of genetic determinism, the belief that genes predetermine biological and behavioral traits. It implies that we are not victims of heredity.

Neuro-plasticity and Epigenetics together form the basis of a new approach to health and happiness. The Law of Attraction is the name given to the maxim "like attracts like" which in New Thought philosophy is used to sum up the idea that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts a person brings positive or negative experiences into their life. This belief is based upon the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from "pure energy", and the belief that like energy attracts like energy. Quantum Thinking is based on a combination of NLP, Quantum Physics, and Positive Psychology.

This law of attraction simply says that you attract into your life whatever you think about. Your dominant thoughts will find a way to manifest. If you are stressed out or have too many dark and gloomy thoughts you might get sick. The first step to using the law of attraction is shifting to more positive way of thinking.

But there is a catch. the subconscious mind is much more powerful that the conscious mind and the subconscious is preoccupied with survival. Too many variables or stress overwhelms the stream of consciousness and instinct takes over. At any time each cell can be either in a growth mode or a protection mode and remaining in the protection mode too long impedes cell development, and it goes wrong in disease.

Apparently the greatest challenge to humanity is a lot of subconscious beliefs that we are undeserving, not good enough, smart enough, rich enough, or attractive enough to stay well and happy. So we unwittingly sabotage ourselves.

While we often think of our bodies and minds as two distinct entities, it turns out they are much more entwined than we might assume.  Mind over matter is a phrase that essentially refers to one's ability to use will power over physical limitations - and this is the central theme of the New Age.

Using the internet to improve the quality of your life keeps easier and more affordable. A finger nail sized memory chip in an Ultra Compact MP3 Player costing just a few dollars can hold hundreds of hours of self-motivation audio files that can apparently alter your subconscious mind and help you to overcome problems and reach your goals to become healthier and happier.

If you don't like iTunes or iPods,  Agptek offers a pretty good and inexpensive MP3 players on Amazon.com. Or you can transfer audio files to your cell phone, though you may want to add more memory.

Memes and Isms

The English suffix -ism was first used to form a noun of action from a verb, as in baptism, from baptein, a Greek word meaning "to dip". Its usage was later extended to signify systems of belief. The first recorded usage of the suffix ism as a separate word in its own right was in 1680. By the nineteenth century it was being used by Thomas Carlyle to signify a pre-packaged ideology. It was later used in this sense by such writers as Julian Huxley and George Bernard Shaw. In the present day, it appears in the title of a standard survey of political thought, Today's ISMS by William Ebenstein.

The -ism suffix can be used to express the following concepts:
  • doctrine, theory or religion (e.g. pacifism)
  • theory developed by an individual (e.g. Marxism)
  • political movement (e.g. feminism)
  • action, process or practice (e.g. terrorism)
  • characteristic, quality or origin (e.g. heroism)
  • state or condition (e.g. pauperism)
  • excess or disease (e.g. botulism)
  • prejudice or bias (e.g. racism)
  • characteristic speech patterns (e.g. Yogiism)

There are long lists of isms. To over simplify, an ism is a way to think about a group of people who do something different. This is a way to think about cultural changes or paradigms. The more followers or participants an ism attracts, the more likely it will be to affect the status quo. The early isms were apparently about regional, racial and linguistic distinctions which eventually became codified as social norms, politics, rules, regulations and laws. Such moral implications turned into religious prohibitions (thou shalt not). In some ways religion helped stabilize cultures and the family unit, but at a terrible price.

Anytime a belief system tries to separate the human psyche into a good and a worthless portion, there is great danger. This tactic of "divide and conquer" has always been used to bring about mankind's greatest inhumanities. This polarization has been at the root of almost all murder, war, and the primary instrument of oppression. The idea that "we are good and they are bad," is invariably used to justify the worst atrocities, usually under the deceptive guise of religious bigotry.

Both political and religious restraints sometimes act as a hedge against anarchy and chaos. Such repressions are usually good for the state but not so good for the individual. Old Chinese common law was severe; "steal an orange, lose a hand."  Even more cruel and repressive conditions resulted from the caste systems such as in India, where people born into a lowly cast were permanently condemned to subservient poverty. Prohibitions against women and dark skinned races were once almost universal. But perhaps the most pervasive form of repression is elitism, which insures advantages for the wealthy.

This has become so bad that we now live in a world where virtually everything is for sale to the highest bidder, resulting in the commodification of everything including the very planet itself -- the land, the water, and the atmosphere, as well as the plants and animals. This behavior is menacingly self destructive. And it is becoming increasingly apparent that unless it changes drastically and soon, this planet cannot sustain anything like 7 billion humans, much less the 9 billion that is projected statistically.

Over time we have become so accustomed to the exploitation of any and all natural resources that we somehow failed to see this as a sort of economic Ponzi scheme. The paradigm of plundering nature and exploiting the poor lasted a long time, but is apparently unsustainable and coming to an end as natural resources dwindle. The economies and systems predicated on such exploitation must fail along with the institutions that support them.

Where then can we turn for a better way?

A meme is "an idea, behavior or style that spreads from person to person within a culture." A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals or other imitable phenomena. Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate and respond to selective pressures. A field of study called memetics arose in the 1990s to explore the concepts and transmission of memes in terms of an evolutionary model.

The word meme was coined by the British evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins in The Selfish Gene (1976) as a concept for discussion of evolutionary principles in explaining the spread of ideas and cultural phenomena. Examples of memes given in the book included melodies, catch-phrases, fashion and architectural technology.

Proponents theorize that memes may evolve by natural selection in a manner analogous to that of biological evolution. Memes do this through the processes of variation, mutation, competition and inheritance, each of which influence a meme's reproductive success. Memes spread through the behaviors that they generate in their hosts. Memes that propagate less prolifically may become extinct, while others may survive, spread and (for better or for worse) mutate. Memes that replicate most effectively enjoy more success, and some may replicate effectively even when they prove to be detrimental to the welfare of their hosts.

Dawkins used the term to refer to any cultural entity that an observer might consider a replicator. He hypothesized that one could view many cultural entities as replicators, and pointed to melodies, fashions and learned skills as examples. Memes generally replicate through exposure to humans, who have evolved as efficient copiers of information and behavior. Because humans do not always copy memes perfectly, and because they may refine, combine or otherwise modify them with other memes to create new memes, they can change over time. Dawkins likened the process by which memes survive and change through the evolution of culture to the natural selection of genes in biological evolution.

So an idea that spreads quickly through the Internet is an Internet meme. This process speeds up the development of  concepts and seems to be one of the more promising aspects of technology. If technology (industrialization) got us into this, maybe it can help with a solution. An idea whose time has come can get millions of hits almost instantly. Who says it has to be about gossip, matchmaking, music, porn, or buying and selling.

If somebody comes up with a way to save the humans, wouldn't you want to know? Recent developments in contemplative neuroscience seems to offer some hope.  Brain plasticity occurs throughout life and it is evident that compassion can be learned by training the human mind using attention and intention.
